The Athena field lies in block 14/18b of the North Sea UKCS, approximately 120 km north east of Peterhead, and is operated by Ithaca Energy Ltd.
Petrex have along established track record on the field, having been responsible for work involving the initial subsea concept selection, through project development, into installation/start-up of the field and the provision of operational support.
The project objective was to perform ESP (Electric Submersible Pumps) system diagnostics and mooring inspection works using a logical troubleshooting approach developed in-house by the experienced Petrex engineering team. Mobilising from Peterhead for a six day campaign, the Petrex crew made the most of a period of short term favourable weather conditions to successfully perform the required scope, minimising the field shut down period and maximising production.
